What is needed is you as maintainer to talk with release managers, on debian-release, to get some pre-approval that the new version, if uploaded to unstable, will be "hinted" by them to enter lenny. You need to explain what are the changes, what bug is fixed and in what this bug needs to be fixed in lenny. For packages without reverse dependencies and packages that are new in Debian, this is "easy" in general. Then, once you get the answer from the RM, you can point one of us DD's in this list (or the list itself) to the .dsc file and we can upload. Tehn, once the upload happened, you need to ask release managers to "hint" the new package. It will then enter lenny after 10 days of ageing (if you made the upload with priority "low", which you should, unless the bug was release critical). Don't wait for too long. Lenny could be released any time soon (that's not entirely true....as long as the installer hasn't been released, lenny will not, but still...).
