Huere you can find for 30-40 €/US$ Ethernet ADSL-Routers like
ZyXel Prestige 331 oder Teledat 331 (OEM of the German Telekom)
You can ger the Cheepest on <http://www.ebay.de/> but you must
read a littlebit german ;-)

I used a 486dx4/100 (32MB Memory, 210 MB Harddisk) with four 3c905B
(200MBit), one 3c515-TX (100 MBit) and one 3c509B (10MBit, for ADSL),
...and it was working quiet well.
