iptables is the network filter module since LInux kernel 2.4. If you
decide you want to upgrade from ipchains to ipfilter you will need a
newer kernel and the "iptables" package that helps you configure the
module from user space.

Then you should read on http://netfilter.org how to configure NAT
(network address translation) because that's what you need to hide
behind the one real IP address you have.
