kernel 2.4.3: iptables is ok but ppp lacks

hi !

i was happy to find a really good documentation to iptables.
after reading it, i wanted to install the 2.4.3 kernel on
my server and set up a new firewall with iptables.

i installed iptables and the kernel-source, compiled it - fine.

then i wanted to get a connection to the internet with pptp using pppd.

nothing - i get the error-msg: pppd exit[146].

what to the .... is code 146 ??
