RE: firewall and ip-masquerading

Runar,

I just went through this. It sounds difficult but it isn't too bad. If you
have questions this list is a good place to find answers. Everyone here has
been a big help to me. How Tos will provide you with the documentation you
need to get started. They can be found at several places on the net
including:

http://www.linuxdoc.org/docs.html#howto

You will probably want to look at the Kernel How To because you need to
activate some features to make ipchains available. I would also look at the
Firewall and Proxy Server How TO and the Linux Ipchains ,and, Linux IP
Masquerade How Tos.

Or, if you want quick and easy try floppyfw. This is a floppy disk with a
Linux kernel already compiled for firewalling and masquerading. It is
configured through several scripts that run on the floppy. It is fairly
well documented and looked to me to run pretty well. It can be found at:

http://www.zelow.no/floppyfw/

As far as your odds of success, I would say they are excellent.

Brian
