Dave, I believe if you look at your /etc/services file, you will find that UDP port 68 is reserved for bootpc. That means that for some reason the bootp protocol is being called by your localhost machine, to which your firewall is denying access to the ethernet NIC. You could have compiled the Bootp support into your kernel or as a module. Not a biggie. Either disable the module or compile a new kernel. Really, you should not bootp support on your firewall, unless you're using your firewall for thing other than security (not recommended). Good luck! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chad Walstrom mailto:chewie@wookimus.net a.k.a ^chewie, gunnarr http://wookimus.net/~chewie Gnupg fingerprint = B4AB D627 9CBD 687E 7A31 1950 0CC7 0B18 206C 5AFD -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright (c) 1999 by Chad Walstrom under GNU General Public License
