any speakers for CT usergroup?

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this type of request
so please point me at the proper place if one exists.

I am a co-founder of the Southern CT OpenSource UserGroup (SCOSUG)[1],
aspiring Debian developer[2] and longtime Debian user (~1996
timeframe). I met Clinton, Jaldhar and Ean on day 2 of this past LWE.

SCOSUG is always looking for speakers willing to discuss Free Software
topics. Recent speakers include JP Rosevere from Ximian and Courier-MTA
founder Sam Varshavchik. A HORDE (IMP webmail) project member is
scheduled for an upcoming meeting and I will be covering the basics of
PGP/GnuPG soon. We also sponsor Linux Installfests and have had a very
popular BSD Night.

Knowing my interest and growing involvement with the Debian project, I
have been asked to poll you (Debian) and see if anyone would be
interested in coming to speak to the group in any upcoming meetings.
Topics can be pretty flexible so long as it's Free Software related in
some way - or at least interesting to the group. We generally aim for
an hour presentation but longer is fine.

Our regular membership tends to be system administrator folk although
some of us are professional software developers. We often see newbies
or non-technical business folk looking to learn about this new-fangled
concept of Free Software. It also tends to vary based on topic. Our
OpenBSD Night was the most popular to date with close to 40 attendees,
some driving from hours away.

The regular meeting room is donated by my company. It's a top-notch
training room with 12 Linux/Win98 workstations, 1 instructor station,
full audio/video (dvd, vcr, surround-sound), overhead projector,
wireless network, SDSL and x86/Linux and sparc/Solaris servers on the
rack.

Regular meetings are held on a Sunday evening in the middle of the
month, monthly. We start around 6pm and run until we're done - usually
2 to 3 hours. Some of the group then often takes the party to a local
restaraunt or bar and others hang around for LAN games of Unreal
Tournament or a DVD movie. We're pretty laid-back.

Our regular meeting place is located in North Haven CT, convenient to
both I91 and Rte 15. We're about 2 hours from either Boston or NYC. We
can arrange for a ride from the New Haven train station (Metro North) to
the meeting.

We're pretty flexible in any of the above (meeting time, day, location
or topic) depending on specifics. For example, JP Rosevere couldn't do
a sunday so we had him talk on a Friday and we'll probably have Eric
Raymond at a local University in a large auditorium due to seating.
We're also willing to discuss repayment for travel/food expenses as we
do have a small budget.

Is anyone interested in coming to speak at SCOSUG? If so, you may
respond directly to me or to wheel@scosug.org. We can discuss the
specifics further then.

thanks,

-joe
