I'd like to either remove the emdebian-crush package from unstable (leaving only oldstable and my preferred action) or orphan it. To be orphaned, the emdebian-crush source package needs to have the emdebian-crush *binary* package dropped (it has no surviving merit) and the pdebuild-cross *binary* package is horribly broken and not worth maintaining. So it would need to become just an xapt binary, arguably with a renamed source package which would also need to live somewhere as VCS. That's a whole lot of work that I don't think xapt justifies doing, so orphaning isn't an appealing option. Better to remove the emdebian-crush source package from unstable and xapt along with it. There is also the issue that xapt is the old way of doing things and restarting maintenance of a method which is already dead in unstable, testing and arguably stable. There needs to be a good reason to *have* xapt in unstable and presumably in the Stretch stable release. xapt has references in a variety of documentation and there may be people interested in keeping it available - possibly outside Debian. If that's you, please just go ahead and start on it. New VCS, single binary package and check with the existing maintainers if they are still interested in having their names on it - I am certainly not looking to be Uploader. -- Neil Williams ============= http://www.linux.codehelp.co.uk/
