Depends on your use case (...says others when googling the topic - I do not claim to be an expert on this myself).

For some uses, better to use the well-tested ext4 with journaling disabled. What I have found easiest is to just select ext4 when installing, and then adjust fstab afterwards to suppress journaling when mounting.


Also, I was thinking if mounting part of the system read-only would make
sense, like explained here:
