And debootstrap usually lacks configs for the latest ubuntu releases (on Debian), and the latest Debian releases (on Ubuntu) -- which nobody seems to mind much, because it's pretty obvious that to get (say) maverick support, you sed s/lucid/maverick/ <lucid.conf >maverick.conf, then fix anything that didn't work.
