Hello,
Does anyone has an experience with the abover Router and installed
EmDebian on it? ...or even, does it work with Debian?
Since the board is based on a Geode CPU it should but I need a little
bit more:
1) 3 x LAN (1 ADSL and 2 intern)
2) 4 x MiniPCI Power Wifi (350mW) 802.11a (Atheros)
3) 1 x GSM (GPRS/EDGE/UMTS) Module
4) 1 x GPS module
OK, the board has 3 LAN On-Board and the GSM-Module can be put on the
internal Mini-PCI slot. and it seems there are Min-PCI Extender but
found only one for 4 cards.
AFAIK does the board support up to 128 MB CF-Card and can be installed
from another computer using a memory card reader.
This seems to be the cheapest solution with arround 600 Euro without
PSU, a 19" case and the MiniPCI extender:
1) net4501 (3xLAN, 1x MiniPCI, 1x CF) 107 Euro
2) MiniPCI Extender 4x ??? Euro
3) GTM378 Embedded Wireless Module 236 Euro
4) GPS Engine Board NL-954M 121 Euro
5) Wifi Atheros 802.11abg 3 x 59 Euro
6) SanDisk Ultra II 256 MB 6 Euro
7) PSU (unfortunately only 12V) 25 Euro
8) 24V/12V converter 34 Euro
8) APRAnorm 19" 1U Case 42 Euro
--------
748 Euro
since if I use a VIA EPIA LN5000EA it will cost arround
1) VIA EPIA LN5000EA 99 Euro
2) Ext-PCI 19 Euro
2) MiniPCI Extender 8x 148 Euro
3) GTM378 Embedded Wireless Module 236 Euro
4) GPS Engine Board NL-954M 121 Euro
5) Wifi Atheros 802.11abg 4 x 59 Euro
6) SanDisk Ultra II 256 MB 6 Euro
7) PicoPSU-80WI32 (12-32V/80W) 56 Euro
8) APRAnorm 19" 1U Case 42 Euro
--------
963 Euro
and additional the choice between
9a) MiniPCI 10/100MBit LAN cards 2 x ??? Euro
9b) 4port VIA 10/100 LAN card 59 Euro
The advantage of the first one is the lower energy consumation and it is
more easier to build a custom 19" case but the disavantage is, there are
only 12V PSU availlable and there are not very much resellers and if it
is broken you run into trouble... Also you have only access over Telnet
or SSH.
The advantage for the second one is, I will buy more then one since I
will use the 500MHz Boards in sone small servers, which mean, I will buy
at least one in reserver. The disavantage is, that it is more
complicated to build a customised case even if the dimensions of the
board is perfectly described in the handbook. Also I can get very good
and small 24V-PSUs and the Router will be accessible direct with
VGA/KBD/Mouse and of course, I can install 4 Wifi-Modules but have to
find two MiniPCI 10/100 LAN cards since the board has only one On-Board.
So, what to choose?
Thanks, Greetings and nice Day
