dpkg/apt cache descriptions

Just wondering aloud. Should it become possible to do this via dpkg (or
by adjusting emdebian-tools), I was wondering what people think:

Remove (or reduce to a single line) the long description of every
Emdebian package during the build so that the Packages.gz file to
download to the device is *much* smaller than a normal Debian one *and*
the processing of the dpkg database and apt-cache would be dramatically
improved on devices with smaller amounts of RAM.

It's not a question for now (we don't have enough packages) but is it
worth investigating for the future?
