A small incremental update with quite useful effects. apt-cross 0.0.6 will not require fakeroot at all (so drops the dependency) and will only use 'sudo' when installing a package via dpkg-cross. This is the result of porting the repo/trunk handlers back into apt-cross and avoids the nasty nuisance messages from dpkg that had to be redirected before. Fixes are in current SVN and are in need of testing. :-) If all goes well, apt-cross 0.0.6 will be uploaded at the same time as emdebian-tools 0.0.4 (which in turn will be "when it is ready", independent of whether 0.0.3 has left the NEW queue). Probably some time next week. emdebian-tools and dpkg-cross have attracted attention from translators (due to the debconf usage mainly) so I began to wonder if apt-cross should support gettext on all the verbose strings - this could also include emdebian-tools too. Probably not for 0.0.6 but for a later release? Does apt-cross need translation? In normal use, the majority of "output" actually comes from other programs called by apt-cross - translated strings might only be used when calling apt-cross with --verbose. -- Neil Williams ============= http://www.data-freedom.org/ http://www.nosoftwarepatents.com/ http://www.linux.codehelp.co.uk/
