How to make Debian packages of rare cross compiler combinations

Hi
In the 30 April Extremadura-meeting newsletter

One thing that numerous people expressed a desire for was to have a
set of cross-toolchains in debian main itself so that people could
simply apt-get them. ... having all possible cross-compilers built is
clearly silly ... We do need a simple mechanism to build 'unsupplied
combinations' though, so that people can easily do this for themselves
when required.

I've just done something in this line: crosstool is able to build just
about cross-everything (see the "build matrix" under
kegel.com/crosstool), and I've hacked together a couple of scripts
using alien to bundle up its output into installable binary debian
packages. They're a bit rough at present and linda/lintian don't like
them, but the end result works and it might do as a starting point if
someone feels like fixing various warts (see linda/lintian output).
However, going from this point to a proper Debian source package is
impossible because crosstool cannot be packaged and so cannot be a
build dependency, but it's better than nothing.
