The current showstopper is the need of dpkg-cross update. See [1]. I currently think that changing arch handling (item 3 in [1]) should be postponed for better times, but items 1 and 2 should be do ASAP. Still hoping to find a free evening ... :( If someone will post a patch, it would probably unlock the situation.
