File mangling in emacs20 20.7-3 corrupts Info
When installing package emacs20 version 20.7-3, the /usr/share/info/
files are mangled by the script fix-debian-scripts. The effect is
that the info files get a "-e20-" infix, which, I guess, is to allow
several versions of emacsen to be installed.
However, if I start the info system and try to access, say, the "CC
mode" node, I get the message "Info file ccmode does not exist"...
which is quite reasonable, since the emacs-e20-1.gz info file contains
the lines
* CC mode: (ccmode). The GNU Emacs mode for editing C, C++, Objective-C
and Java code.
but the appropriate files are named ccmode-e20-* .
In BTS there are several bugs filed (#93667, #101672, #103564(?),
#108241) relating to this problem. Since most users only install one
emacsen, would be a good idea to abandon the renaming of info files?
