installing Debian on Acer X1430

Hi,

friends gave me this pc. They installed Linuxmint on it, but it did not boot. There is no more Windows on the computer.

I tried to install Magéia5, same problem.

Then I installed debian-8.0.0-amd64-DVD-1.iso from usb flashdisk, still without boot success. I installed in expert mode and I choosed also installing in removable media path.

The Bios/EFI has no secure boot and no Bios legacy option. In the boot option in the Bios there is only "efi" and "hard disk", but both will not work with hard disk. On boot, no hard disk is found though it is listed in Bios.

I can boot on flash disk because usb legacy is activated in Bios. F12 allows me to choose efi or legacy usb boot, only legacy works.

After installing Debian, I chrooted with Knoppix to Debian and I installed efibootmgr, but efibootmgr tells me that "EFI variables are not supported on this system." So what can I do? Is it impossible to install Debian or another GNU/Linux system on this computer?

For the moment, I can only use it with a live system like Knoppix.

I asked on debian user list and I read several documents about EFI, for ex. https://wiki.debian.org/UEFI, but I still need help.

cheers

Klaus
