mainly because Debian Edu / Skolelinux in senso stricto and Education-related software (that would also be packaged by Ubuntu Devs that upload their stuff to Debian) are two different pairs of shoes.
Also, I would like to keep the debian-edu@lists.debian.org list clean from edu-pkg-team bug reports and package upload notifications.
This is my personal preference and considering the amount of packages we maintain under debian-edu-pkg-team already, I think my reasoning touches a valid and also more pragmatic point.
