MATE (which I'd been using and would > like to use again) does not work. So the problem is neither xrdp nor the X server. Can you login to MATE with a local display manager with the same user? I cannot reproduce the issue, neither on jessie nor on stretch (I actually do haev a jessie box with xrdp 0.9 from backports where, in this very moment, 16 users are running active MATE sessions). What you could do is attach x11vnc to the running X display at the point where you see the session processes and the RDP screen shows only black. Does it also only show a black screen? Anything else special about this setup? > * The Windows 7 built-in client doesn't work at all, teal screen after > login no matter what I do. Do other Windows versions work? Lacking that, can you test both xfreerdp (from freerdp-x11) and rdesktop? I'd suspect the first to work and the latter to show the same effect. Can you reproduce that? > * Neither the VNC options nor "console" work at all anymore. Well, did you install the relevant packages, like a VNC server? > * Going back to 0.6.1 doesn't help. Did you make sure to also recreate the old config files? Another thing: What PAM modules do you have enabled in common-session? Anything non-default? Cheers, Nik
