I doubt we have ever made use of them, but we have fast and reliable
internet here.

It depends on the school. A secondary school would probably not need
gcompris or tuxpaint, and a primary school might not use stellarium or
lilypond. Its hard to provide a comprehensive set of applications and
keep the footprint small.
