home0 not mounted after kernel upgrade

Hi All,

I upgraded the kernel to 3.12 from wheezy-backports to get the sound
working on a new computer (workstation). After doing this I can no
longer log in. The computer is getting the right ip address and shows
the correct name. TTY login works, but using / as HOME ("no
directory")

The same thing happened on 2 machines. I could log in on them as
expected before upgrading the kernel.

Thanks
Nigel
