Changing splash screen, desktop background, ... etc. in desktop-base

Hi,

I'm now trying to build up our own artwork package.  I looked at debian-edu-artwork and started to try replacing the kdm background, ksplash background and desktop background images.  I saw that in debian/update-artwork, it would replace alternatives in /usr/share/images/desktop-base/, like desktop-background, desktop-splash, ... etc.  So I prepared some images and used

update-alternative --install /usr/share/images/desktop-base/desktop-splash desktop-splash /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes/ezgo/background.png 90

to try to replace the splash background.  But it seemed not so easy as I expected.  The background didn't change.

In debian-edu-artwork it used autoconf (which I'm not so familiar with...) to generate Makefile.  I couldn't find out how it installed the images and how to change the default (kde) config.  Could anyone please give me some hints about that?

Thanks,
Franklin
