There is:
http://screenshots.debian.net/

It wouldn't help to include screenshots in packages as you would need to
install them first to be able to actually view the screenshots.
=> golearn would depend on all the packages it is show-casing

It would only make the whole archive a lot bigger.

IMO having the screenshots in one central place outside the archive is
the best approach so far. golearn could use screenshots.d.n (if it
doesn't already).
