nagios-plugins come with predefined check_cups, which is just a check_http on port 631. This check would only fail if cups is not running or the network configuration is screwed.


I am hoping we can montor and report disabled printers, printers out
of paper and stuff like that. :) What kind of printer problems do the
schools experience?

So far I have only checked individual printers with specific plugins, like the hp-jet-direct plugin for HP printers.
