Squeeze ISOs now usable as USB stick images
Thanks to the work of Ronny Aasen during this weekends developer
gathering and the d-i team (mostly Joey Hess) earlier this year, the
Debian Edu test images for Squeeze can now be used as both CD/DVD
images and as USB stick images.
To use them as CD/DVD images, burn them to CD or DVD. To use them as
USB stick images, just dump the images directly into a USB stick.
Something like this should work (if /dev/sdb is your USB stick image):
dd bs=1M if=debian-edu-amd64-i386-NETINST-1.iso of=/dev/sdb
Something is still wrong with the automatic partitioning, and I
suspect LTSP installation using the DVD image might run into problems,
but besides these minor issues, the installation should just work from
a USB stick. No more CD buring required to test on real hardware. :)
See <URL: http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/Status/Squeeze > for status
and links to information on how to test the squeeze test images.
Happy hacking,
