This would have one advantage: There is only on location where the
user's data is stored and if a user is removed, all his mails will

If using quota and hitting the roof, or if (arrgh!) /home is full, mails are rejected instead of just unavailable to the user until space have been freed.

Despite that I very much favor such setup!
