[Bug 1367] New ldap attributes and settings for samba.

------- Comment #9 from skilinux@gmail.com 2009-08-17 21:42 -------
I have just booted an historic Etch (test) system installed from:
 'Debian GNU/Linux edu 3.0r1test _Etch_ - Unofficial i386 CD Binary-1
20071204-11:27'

It puzzled me to see that it already used the later schema (Samba 3.x).
Checking in Subversion shows that this schema was introduced in version 432 on
27-Apr-2004, that is debian-edu-config(0.381). Wasn't that in Sarge?

Could anybody clarify this point?

Indeed, for some time I would say :-)

Appears to me there's no need to update any attributes and it has nothing to do
with the change of schema.

So, does this bear down to adding some optional Samba attributes to 'user'
objects?

As far as concerns apt-upgrading from Etch to Lenny that would also require
loading DNS and DHCP data into LDAP for Samba to be usable, wouldn't it?
