Here's another proposal that would allow to have as long a description
as desired and may even make re-translation unnecessary:
1) Add another template of type text or note to hold the information.
2) Modify the script 'debian-edu-profile' to show this template.
I tested this approach by a crude hack on the binary udeb and it worked well.
If this approach is favored I'd be happy to prepare patches and put
them at http://bugs.skolelinux.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1315.
