Dev.gathering Trondheim 24-26 April. Users conference Narvik 24 April

The organizing comity for the Narvik gathering are suggesting some
changes for the gathering 24-26 April.

Du to full fights out from Narvik on Sunday 24, the developer gathering
for many will be from Friday to Saturday. Loosing a whole day.

Traveling to Narvik may take 8-12 hours one way (It's great distances in
Norway). Then only 8 waking hours are left to contribute. To solve this
logistical challenge, Viggo Fedreheim at the Municipality of Narvik
suggested to split the gathering, doing it in Trondheim and Narvik:

* We will do a user conference on Friday 24 April in Narvik. We had this
planned anyway. Neighbouring municipalities are now considering
Skolelinux cause of reduce tax income due to the financial crisis. They
want to hear more about the success of Narvik with 1200 low fat and thin
clients at 15 schools. The administration also want to know a bit more
on OpenOffice for administrative use. Also netbooks and how free software
will be used on mobile devices are a hot topics. Maybe Klaus can do a
stunt on netbooks and laptops? :)

* We invite developers to Trondheim at the same weekend as Narvik, April
24-26. Arnt Ove Gregersen invited developer to Trondheim 10 days ago.
First he suggested to house this at his home. Since more were
interested, his employer said yes to use their office for the weekend.
This way contributors to Skolelinux can work considerable compared to
Narvik, caused by full flights on Sunday 24 April. Food and travel will
be covered.

Of course, there are possibilities to contribute in Narvik too. But then
you need to stay from Friday to Monday, leaving on Monday 4:40 in the
morning. Going to Trondheim is much easier, and the best option for all
those who has to work on Monday 27 April.

We dare to do this change, because no one have been listed on the wiki
yet, or indicating that they've bought a flight ticket yet. This in
accordance with recent e-mails and the wiki[1] . We were also able to
get access to a workspace in Trondheim without much hassle:

If anyone by chance has already paid flight tickets to Narvik. You should
consider a re-book to Trondheim. The added cost may be covered by the
board of Free Software in Schools (Norway), since it's a kind of Force
majeure[2]. I guess that sponsors of Skolelinux understands such a
situation.

That's all at this point.

Best regards
