Currently sugar in lenny is 0.81, thats the biggest obstacle IMO. And there is 
not much you can do about it, the 0.82 release cycle didnt fit the lenny 
release cycle.

We already took measures so that sugar is a desktop choice like the others, so 
once sugar in Debian is in a good state, there is basically not much to do.

That said, there are two things I think which could be improved (but those are 
not Debian specific at all):

- include a manual (and its translations) in the release. Currently the best 
manual I know about is at http://en.flossmanuals.net/Sugar - which is ok if 
you have net access, but not if you dont.

- currently sugar (not fully sure if its sugars "fault") reinvents user 
accounts. (The first time you start sugar you are asked your username and to 
choose a color of your xo icon.) That doesnt match well with the existing 
user system.
