Valerio,
I think you have looked into this and know what the best thing is, and you
should go ahead and do it (no disrespect to ralf).

I know you want a developer (someone in charge) to OK it, but i have
learned that they don't work that way, and they are happy for you to go
ahead and do the sensible thing on their behalf.
