For you I have the following hint that circumvents the problem:
sudo mkdir -p /etc/cdd/education
sudo echo "CDDNAME=Debian-Edu" > /etc/cdd/education/education.conf
This will register Debian-Edu as CDD and the postinst script will run
smoothly (at least it did so on my machine).
I will work on a real fix for the problem in cdd-dev package.
For debian-edu list: The cdd-common package basically cares for
the user menu stuff and when I added the dependency I just assumed that
somehow the Dependency was dropped. The truth was that it was never
there because we did not wanted to use the user menu method at it
is currently used in Debian-Med (because it just does not scale and
we need something better). So the real fix would have been to
fix cdd-dev to act reasonably if there is no such file
/etc/cdd/cdd.conf
I'll work on the right fix this afternoon. The result will be
that cdd-common is again removed from the dependencies (because
ist is currently not really used) and instead a build dependency
from a fixed cdd-dev version.
