Re: Need help with swedish language not working

this reminds me about japanese. I have just done a workstation install of the r1 netinstall CD:

installation proceeds in japanese
kdm is in japanese, but there is no option to choose language
root logs in, but gets an english environment
other users get a japanese environment

I think root needs a japanese environment for this to be attractive to japanese schools.

cheers

Now we plan to start installing Debian-edu/skolelinux on hardware we
donate. The problem is that the Swedish language don’t work in
Debian-edu (bugreport
http://bugs.skolelinux.no/show_bug.cgi?id=1294). Before that is
fixed we can’t do anything, please help us.

I suspect we need to make a new version of the debian-edu package
listing the swedish translation packages for installation. I've added
the packages to the package lists, but no new version has been
released soo far.

An alternative is for you to install the packages manually. Can you
please check if it is enough to install the packages kde-i18n-sv,
openoffice.org-l10n-sv, openoffice.org-help-sv, and
iceweasel-l10n-sv-se? Are more needed? Perhaps some spell checking
packages are needed too?

It might be needed to run update-locale too, after the packages are
installed.

Happy hacking,
