[Bug 1270] New: samba groupmaps are missing after installation

http://bugs.skolelinux.no/show_bug.cgi?id=1270

Summary: samba groupmaps are missing after installation
           Product: Skolelinux
           Version: etch-release-3.0r0
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: debian-edu-config
        AssignedTo: debian-edu@lists.debian.org
        ReportedBy: ronny@skolelinux.org

A change have happened in the way groups are handles between samba in sarge and
samba in etch. The result is a regression in the samba group handling.
After installation of slx3.0 the only group samba is aware of is Domain Admins.
samba is not aware of the groups students /teachers /jradmins or any other
groups one may create.

I have filed a wishlist for lwat to create the groupmaps when creating new
groups http://bzz.no/lwat/trac/trac.cgi/ticket/14

But it is realy debian-edu-config's ldap-debian-edu-install's responsibility to
generate the proper ldap for the default installation. And the groups we create
there.

Ofcourse fixing the default installed ldap will not help with upgrade issues.

finnarne mentioned lwat/fixup.php , this tool might be a way to deal with
upgrades ?

one can manually add a groupmap with
/usr/bin/net groupmap add rid=512 unixgroup=admins \
             type=domain ntgroup="Domain Admins" \
comment="All system administrators in the school"

a list of know rid's to avoid for custom groups are at
http://us3.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/groupmapping.html#WKURIDS
