Our local devices appear in the folders inside /media/$USERNAME.
Most normal users I have seen trying to find their content on usb-sticks from
the filenavigator of for example openoffice are "lost" after a few clicks.

Users expect the devices to appear somewhere easy visible, like with ltsp4.2
where an icon appeard immediately on the desktop background. 

In edubuntu(7.04) an icon does appear immediately on the desktop background, and
it's also visible upfront in the filenavgator of openoffice, when edubuntu can
do this, so should we.
