Samba on DebianEdu Sarge

Dear list,

on the German list, we had some samba issues, recently, which led to a 
sequence of steps on how to check your samba root account after base 
installation. The result can be seen at

(the page is not entirely translated, but don't mind)

As far I recall, it is enough to create a samba root account by means of
smbpasswd root - could anybody confirm this?
