The Education-* metapackages now consists of Recommends instead of
Depends. 
The Education packages used to have dependencies but these dependencies
would make it impossible for other packages to enter testing. 

I think 
 aptitude -r install education-<workstation|standalone|...>
would install all recommends as dependencies
