I did some digging, and it appears that samba updates the machine password 
whenever a machine is joined to the domain. 

I Attach the to ldif's, one from the first time the machine is added to the 
domain, and the other from when the second time the machine is added to the 
domain. In the meantime, the machine was added to a workgroup.
