[Debian-NYC] Thinking about workshop #1b

Hello,

Even though we haven't even gotten past our first workshop yet, there
is a bit we need to discuss of the second. As some of you have seen
on IRC, NYC Wireless has offered to integrate a workshop with their
Breakout Festival, where they set up wireless Internet at locations
throughout the city in order to encourage people to leave their
offices. We on IRC were thinking to make workshop #1b be a
BSP/hackfest to follow up with the first, inviting the attendees (but
not limiting to them) to come and practice their skills more. And do
it in a fun location.

We need to decide if we want to do this, and what locations we might
want. Be creative: if you could have a hackathon anywhere in the
city, where would it be? The one thing to keep in mind is that it may
(unfortunately) be getting cold by then. See below for some of
Laura's (our Breakout/NYC Wireless contact) ideas.

So, what do you think?

Idea: What about a Halloween Hacksession (could be in costume) on
Saturday 10/31 in Grand Central Station (or on any evening that week)?
We could probably do short 30-minute sessions in the upstairs atrium
by the closed ticket windows for 3-5 people and/or a larger group of
5-10 downstairs in the food court area. There are a number of other
indoor public spaces that we have scoped out for Breakout! including
the World Financial Center Winter Garden, 60 Wall St. Public
Atrium. and South Street Seaport but Grand Central is the most
centrally located and probably the most fun venue.
