Perhaps a bit off-topic @kartik should get some good scenery if you go
by Konkan Railway, the ones upto Mangalore and then change from there
or something to go down by Kerala. I have been through that route once
or twice, the best (and a bit dangerous) time is during monsoon.
Dangerous being the track is prone to landslides and things like that.
Even then the whole track is both an engineering marvel and a thing of
beauty to admire.
