Package: dselect
Version: 1.10.23
Severity: wishlist

Would it be possible to split dselect into 2 parts?
Currently dpkg depends upon dselect due to some shared
files, as it seems. But due to a long chain of
dependencies you will get some packages unrelated
to dpkg's functionality, like gawk, gcc-3.4-base, or
libncurses5.

I would assume that some cleanup is necessary. Surely
something that can be postponed till Sarge is completed.

Many thanx

Harri

dpkg depends on deselect to support upgrades from when dselect was not a
separate package, and was part of the dpkg package.

This dependency will be removed in the future.

There are no files in dselect that dpkg needs.
