Bug #179320 continues to haunt people.

Hi,

I'd like to mention that bug #179320 continues to cause problems for
people. A set of Debian packages related to high-performance computing
clusters is available from a group at the University of Chicago. They
in fact create RedHat .rpm's of their software and use alien to generate
.deb's. Alien is producing a description text for one of the packages
that triggers this bug in dselect. It would be nice to have this fixed.
Since the description is automatically generated by another Debian tool,
and not produced by a human, it is not easy to manually edit it.

I think dselect should not crash no matter how out of spec a package might
be, and it certainly should not be crashed by a package that is
automatically generated by another Debian tool; so it would be nice if
either dselect could be fixed or alien modified so as to not produce
description texts that trigger the bug.

Thanks,
