E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg exited unexpectedly

Hello!

I have an error with apt-get upgrade progam. This error refer to dpkg and I can't upgrade any packages.

Before post in this list I was looking for this error in google without results.

# apt-get update

Hit....

Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done

This "apt-get update" seems work fine.

And when i ran apt-get upgrade ....

# apt-get --version
apt 0.5.4 for linux i386 compiled on Aug 19 2001 01:02:26
Supported Modules:

S.L: 'deb' Standard Debian binary tree

For fix this problem, I tried the followings commands without results.

# apt-get install --reinstall -f base-files

# dpkg --configure -a

And I had deleted all .deb packages in /var/cache/apt/archives

And then:

# apt-get -u upgrade
