Hi,

]% dpkg --no-act --extract /dev/null
dpkg-deb: --extract needs a target directory.
Perhaps you should be using dpkg --install ?
% dpkg --no-act --extract /dev/null .
dpkg-deb: unexpected end of file in version number in /dev/null
% dpkg --no-act --extract ~/deb/du/dupload_2.6.2_all.deb d
% echo $?
0
% ls d
etc  usr

I guess the bug is now a request to implement --no-act in dpkg-deb, rather
than ignore it.
