Package: dpkg-dev
Version: 1.10.9
Severity: normal

In dpkg-architecture (line 39) :
# 1.0.6 Revert to i386 to comply with policy =A7 5.1.

But the policy doesn't tell anything about to obligation to revert
anything in its =A7 5.1, because that =A7 deals about timestamps ! In fact,
it is a problem when you want to compile for a specific Intel arch...

I'm sure the policy section # has changed since that code was written
(possibly =A711.1 now), but dpkg-architecture's current behavior i
still correct -- 'dpkg-architecture' when called alone should give the
name of the *base* architecture. If you want to compile for a specific
Intel subarch, you should call dpkg-architecture with the '-a' option,
as when running 'dpkg-buildpackage -ai686'.
