Er, we have this wonderful system called cvs.  It's cool.

Also, consider this, for depending on runtime cpu features:

Depends: {cpu:mmx}, libc6 (>= 2.3)
Conflicts: {cpu:sse}

{} are used to escape the current package namespace.
