It works for me.
Most likely, your /usr/share/info/dir file has been corrupted. I reassign
this bug to dpkg, since it's the package containing install-info, the
program which updates this file.
If you can investigate a little bit more about this problem (for example,
which packages did you upgrade recently containing documentation in
info format), it would probably help.
