  I've uploaded the traces to:

    http://people.debian.org/~jerome/misc

  Scenario:

  $ LC_ALL=C sudo strace dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/doc-linux-html_2002.06-1_all.deb 2> trace1

  (dpkg ends with a segfault)

  $ sudo dpkg --configure -a

  $ LC_ALL=C sudo strace dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/doc-linux-html_2002.06-1_all.deb 2> trace2

  (dpkg hangs)

  I hope this helps.
