Package: dselect
Version: 4.2
Severity: serious

(Note: the bug is also sent to dselect and xserver-xfree86 since it
is unclear what is the faulty package)

Using my video board with woody 3.0r0 y had to install an unoffical
(althought originating from branden) 4.2 version of package since it
does not work with the shipped 4.1.
When installing with dpkg it complain about outdated libc6 , i say
--force-depends and then it install, and works. nearly.
First bug: the XFConfig86-4 is changed with a new one every time I
reinstall, giving a wrong mouse configuration.
Second Bug: if I use dselect to put a new package from CD it
complain that the installed Xserver version and libc have
dependencies problem.
even if I put both packages on hold and say Q to continue ...
it uninstalls every time xserver-xfree86-4.2
and I have to reinstall ... and again select the correct mouse !

If you use --force-depends dselect won't like it since you basically
broke your system as far as dseletc is concerned.

This is not dselect related.
