Euh, heh, it definitely takes a while before you understand dpkg
internals. It's not the most readable or well documented code
unfortunately.

I did write the docs for dpkg-query now though, you can find some
prelimary packages at http://people.debian.org/~wakkerma/dpkg/ .
(CVS has a few more cosmetic changes made since then)
